This past winter break, we spontaneously decided to head south for a staycation. We packed up our fifth wheel, kids, and pups for a much-needed escape, surrounded by beautiful views and fresh air.
We had an amazing time during our stay, so I wanted to share a fun and family-friendly itinerary!
If you haven’t experienced New Braunfels, you’re missing out on one of Texas’ best hidden gems! This charming town is packed with rich German heritage, amazing food, and plenty of outdoor fun. Whether you're floating the Comal or Guadalupe River, exploring Gruene Historic District, or grabbing a bite at a local favorite, there’s something for everyone.
And let’s talk about River Road—one of the most scenic drives in Texas! Twisting along the Guadalupe River, it’s lined with towering cypress trees, cozy cabins, and some of the best tubing spots around. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, soak in the views, and truly relax.
We stayed at Gyspy River Rv Resort. They have rv spots, cabins, and tent camping. I will note that it's not meant for large campers. It was a tight fit in our 40ft toyhauler! Camping sites do offer water and they have a dump site on premise. They do not allow dogs during peak season months.
*** Most RV/Camping Sites do not allow dogs during peak season. Verify before booking your trip if you pan to bring your fur babies!****
